How do you go about #ConsumerReviews in #SocialMedia?
Thanks to Jillian for a new topic on the agenda today: consumer reviews in social media.
Being the organisers of Australia’s best attended and biggest event for digital marketing and online business, the Internet Show, we try to open up the discussion about relevant topics in Social Media nowadays. And of course, we didn’t overlook the attention for Google+ lately but today we would like to share the positive view Jillian has about consumer reviews. She notes that from an academic standpoint, consumer reviews support the decision making processes through the provision of in-direct product experiences which offer a first impression of products and services before they are consumed and I have to admit, as a consumer, I do check regularly sites like tripadvisor.com.au or eatability.com.au and I do believe I am not the only one.
What is your own experience? Do you use consumer reviews when making a purchase, booking a table or going to an exhibition? I believe we all do, but still, using consumer reviews in a positive way for your business is a different deal. Jillian gives a great example of CitizenM how they embrace the opinions of their consumers. They work totally openly, the dig into their customer and found a way to co-create value with their stakeholders. But maybe you are afraid? Afraid of the negative reviews, afraid for the angry customer, afraid for mixed messages about your brand? I believe consumer reviews are a useful part of the Social Media ensemble and as we are all out there everyday forget the anxiety, just respond quickly and take criticism as a present. It will only give you the opportunity to improve your business! There is however, one condition, make sure you are out there continuously.
