A few words with Intelligent Audit’s Scott Langley

Home Delivery World is where retailers and solution providers like Intelligent Audit meet to network, learn from each other, and discuss the latest developments in home delivery.

The following is an interview with Scott Langley, President of Global Sales and Strategy at Intelligent Audit, who will be speaking on the subject of proper management strategies for your pool carrier / final mile network at this year’s Home Delivery World.

Q: How did you get involved with the parcel industry?
A:“Growing up in the Midwest, transportation and logistics were vital in most companies’ business. As I started to look for a career during my college days, I was fortunate enough to be hired by UPS in Toledo, Ohio. It was there where I learned the fundamentals of logistics and truly became passionate about the occupation. Nearly 30 years later I am as excited about logistics and transportation as I was the day I started with UPS.”

Q: What are three opportunities/challenges that companies face related to logistics/transportation/supply chain management?
A: “Companies today are struggling with shipping options outside of the traditional carriers most widely utilized today (i.e. UPS and FedEx). Educating organizations on additional transportation options and alternative carrier solutions will be critical as we move into the future.

As transportation costs continue to rise, more companies need to evaluate their omni-channel strategies and in particular, their B2C strategies. Finding the right carrier at the right cost is the key to producing the perfect order and best customer experience.

Carriers today offer more service offerings than ever before. Along with those additional service offerings come more sophisticated carrier cost and billing options. The complexities of these carrier pricing models can be extremely difficult to understand and manage. In order to maintain a competitive advantage, companies will need to partner with organizations who can help with the management of this part of their business.”

Q: What are some of your favorite things to do in and around the city of Atlanta?
A: “I live in the suburbs of Atlanta, so any chance I get to visit the downtown area and experience new restaurants and the Atlanta nightlife is welcomed by me. Some of my favorite locations are Kevin Rathbun Steak in the Old Fourth Ward, Krog Street Market, and since I’m a huge college football fan, the College Football Hall of Fame.”

Q: What is something most folks don’t know about you?
A: “I grew up close to Detroit, so since I was young, I have always enjoyed classic cars. Any chance I get to see them and discuss the history of automobiles is a welcomed distraction for me.”
