Julie’s First Half Marathon
Two years ago I moved to South Africa from England with my husband. I joined a number of clubs and started some activities to help me settle in – action netball and running specifically.
I started a small running club with a colleague Samantha Pickard, who is always motivating me to enter races and do more! We run every Saturday in a new location, followed by a yummy breakfast (consequently undoing all our good work!)
This year in February we entered and ran a half marathon together – my first. My time was 2 hours 40 minutes. I was aiming for sub 3 hours so I was really pleased with my result.
We’re planning on getting some more races in the diary and I’m looking forward to getting some new personal bests!
