Sara Zaremba’s successful story in New York, NY as a team player and as a conference manager

Sara I attended George Washington University and majored in International Relations with a dual concentration in Development and Latin America. Previously, I had worked on events from a logistical standpoint but I really wanted to be more involved in creating the program and making sure that the most pertinent subjects and topics were covered. By becoming a Conference Manager, I am able to directly influence the trends in a specific industry. I originally came in for a Conference Manager position but all of the openings were filled. A few weeks later, I received a call that they were looking specifically for a Spanish speaking Conference Manager and thought of me- it worked out even better than I had hoped because my first project was working with Mexico.

As a conference manager, my primary responsibility is to thoroughly research the topic for my event, speak and correspond with experts in that particular field, and then develop an innovative and pertinent agenda for the event. I am also responsible for securing all of the speakers that will be participating in the program. My favorite thing about my job is that I am constantly learning about new things. I continue to expand my knowledge on a number of different  topics on a daily basis and consistently feel like I’m becoming a mini-expert on a new topic. Additionally the office really provides a wide net of support which was great for me coming from a different background. Terrapinn is structured so that everyone involved in your project has an equal stake in its success, which gives me a great support structure for my work and makes me feel like I’m on a team constantly working to succeed and break new records.
