Top tips on building a mobile strategy for #pharma

Mobile health is set to grow: According to Manhattan Research in Q3 2011 26% of the US adult population used their mobile phones to search for health information and tools. Though mobiles are currently being used to gather information 2012 is set to see a move towards using mobile devices to support care. Mobile health doubled between 2010 to 2011 and things are only set to grow in 2012.

Top tips for using mobile health to engage consumers

  1. Think multi-screen. Consumers are still dependent on desktops/laptops so when you are devising a mobile strategy think multi-screen.
  2. Don’t just think apps. When searching for health information web browsing is currently used more than apps so when you are thinking about your mobile health strategy don’t just think apps.
  3. Mobile= anytime/anywhere. Mobile is not necessarily on the go. The most popular place to search for health information on a mobile is at home.
  4. Build with the consumer in mind. Don’t make the user think. They should be able to get the information quickly and easily.
  5. Use rich media and videos whenever possible. Consumers find it more engaging and it’s less work for the visitor than reading.
  6. Content. Make sure the content is easily digestible information.

Every tip should be KISS. Keep it short and simple. Especially during emergency, one shouldn’t have the time to watch a full five minute video in order for her to learn how to give first aid.
