China’s fast-growing aviation industry continues to attract attention from around the world.
Air travel from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing just got easier as AirAsia X, the long haul affiliate of low cost carrier AirAsia, will fly directly to the Chinese capital Beijing as of 22 June 2012.
With the new route, AirAsia X will suspend its flights to Tianjin from June 20 but allow impacted passengers to transfer their flight bookings to Beijing that is about 100 kilometers away.
It explained its decision to switch from Tianjin to Beijing Airport as this helped to "maximize commercial opportunities in Beijing to ultimately drive increased traffic flow between China and Malaysia".
‘About 70 percent of the passengers on the Tianjin route come from Beijing’, said Kathleen Tan, AirAsia Group’s head of commercial.
‘China is one of Air Asia’s core markets and its entrance into the Beijing market is a milestone in the company’s development’, Azran Osman Rani, CEO of AirAsia X, added.
AirAsia X will be offering four flights a week between Beijing Capital International Airport and the Kuala Lumpur Low-Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT). It will also provide daily flights to Beijing from Aug 6.
Azran Osman-Rani, CEO of AirAsia X, will share how he intends to capitalize on China’s tremendous growth potential at the 5th edition of Aviation Outlook China 2012. Catch him during our morning plenary session on day two on the 11th of July 2012.
