Premier Mr Baillieu has voiced that efforts will be made to develop Avalon into a second international airport. The news of developing Avalon Airport comes at a pivotal time as Tiger has expressed interest in potentially establishing Avalon as a base.

The government has already committed $1.5 million for the planning of a rail link between Lara and Avalon and $4.7 million for a jet fuel pipeline link to Shell Geelong Terminal. It is only a matter of time before Avalon will expand and develop into a busy regional hub.
