GE Aviation: A path to operational efficiency using fuel and carbon solutions

GE logo x150 Chris Nye presented GE’s innovative solution at the Low Cost Airlines World Americas conference last week in Miami. This solution allows airlines to reduce fuel burn by analyzing data. The approach by GE achieves fuel savings but the implementation of several projects whose combine effect can have a sizable impact on the airline’s bottom line. Chris highlighted that the solutions developed were unique to each carrier.

Chris noted that vast amounts of data are analyzed by a proprietary software that allows fuel burn to be looked at the  flight level. The solutions proposed by GE as a result of their analysis are presented with a business case and implementation is monitored to ensure the stated savings are met. The robustness of the GE solution was highlighted in a customer experience, in which fuel burn for a particular flight on a particular day was reduced by the addition of a baggage handler.

Additionally, the robustness of the GE solution was shown in its ability to automatically prepare emissions report for submissions to European Union Regulators and the software parameters that allow relevant analysis that is not skewed by factors that cannot be controlled.

At the end of the presentation it was clear that in an environment of high fuel costs GE is providing a solution that is truly innovative.

GE Aviation was a sponsor of Low Cost Airlines World Americas 2011.
